Study Subject (s):
Scholarships are offered in the health area. The research project must address a global health issue and preference will be given to projects conducted in a developing country or resource-poor setting. These are offered in one of the six health science schools, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, or the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh who wish to conduct research in an international setting.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for masters and doctoral level.

Eligibility:
- Full-time, degree-seeking masters- or doctoral-level students in one of the six schools of the health sciences, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs or the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh Oakland Campus are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh at the time of application and when using the award. They must also be enrolled full time and in residence at the University of Pittsburgh for at least one term after completing the project.
- Applicants must be in good academic standing at the time of application and when using the award.
- Only one (1) award per student per calendar year is allowed.
- The research project must be a component of the student’s University academic program, offer the student hands-on experience and address a compelling global health issue.
- For purposes of this grant program, research is broadly defined as “an activity that contributes new knowledge that can be used by participating partners in country for further research or program development, contribute to program improvement, or be used as pilot data for a thesis or dissertation.” A variety of activities can qualify as research, including laboratory science, quantitative and qualitative data collection, needs assessments, policy analysis, program evaluation, surveillance, and secondary data analysis.
- Applicants may propose participation in a new international project, join in an existing international project, or continue in a project in which the applicant participated in the previous year.
- Applicants must identify at least one (1) faculty advisor at the University and one (1) advisor at the performance site to support the application and serve as mentors for the project.

USA students can apply for these scholarships(masters or doctoral students enrolled in one of the six health science schools, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, or the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh who wish to conduct research in an international setting).
Scholarship Description: Global Health Travel
Scholarships is partially support international travel expenses for masters or doctoral students enrolled in one of the six health science schools, the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, or the School of Law at the University of Pittsburgh who wish to conduct research in an international setting. Only one (1) award per student per calendar year is allowed. The maximum grant amount is $3,000 USD. The number and amount of each award will depend on the number and quality of applications received.
Number of awards: One.
Notification: Successful applicants will be notified in March 14, 2014.
