Περιγραφή
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) enable graduates to apply their studies in a commercial environment, managing challenging projects central to the development needs of the participating companies. This project could offer potential PhD sponsorship for the right candidate.
The Role
This 36 month fixed-term Partnership between the University of Hertfordshire and Global Invacom Limited is a unique opportunity for a graduate to develop expertise in Fibre/Wireless (Fi/Wi) networking combining terrestrial and satellite, through new fibre-optic based Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
The Company
As industry leaders in, In-Home and Multiple Set Top-box distribution, their product range includes; multi-switches, frequency extenders/converters, band and channel stackers, and the tvLINK.
Design firsts include; the low cost Low-Noise Block downconverter (LNB) for BSkyB and most recently the first cost effective 'Optical LNB. Key customers: BskyB, BT, BBC
The Person
You will hold, as a minimum, a BEng/MEng First degree in Electronics Communication Engineering or equivalent. Other appropriate qualifications may come from Digital Signal Processing or Software Engineering. You will need to have experience in network architecture and digital communication systems. In particular, digital transmission/processing applicable to optical, wireless and satellite systems, including modulation/demodulation and transceiver design.
It would be essential to have some hands on experience with modelling (MATLAB, C/C++, VHDL and/or VPI/Optiwave). Some experimental experience in the above areas will be desirable.
An independent, critical thinker, proactive in planning work but also reacting to unexpected challenges and opportunities. You will have the ability to write professional technical reports and conference/journal papers and communicate effectively at all levels working both in a team but also individually.
Under current UK Visa and Immigration Service regulations, the University of Hertfordshire is unlikely to be able to get a work permit in respect of this post. We can therefore only accept applications from people who will have the right to work in the UK with an appropriate visa for the total duration of the contract.
The University
As a KTP Associate you will be employed by the University of Hertfordshire but will be based at the company premises located in Stevenage.
