We are seeking for a motivated post-doc researcher with a good expertise in the field of electrochemical /photoelectrochemical devices. Main aim of his/her work will be to design and fabricate engineered solar energy converting devices which implement properly tailored nanomaterials/nanostructures with finely tunable plasmonic features. The successful candidate will operate in a world-class laboratory equipped with a full spectrum of both fabrication and characterization facilities devoted to the realization of novel photoelectrochemical devices and to their photophysical, electrical and electrochemical characterization.

Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies of Italian Institute of Technology in Lecce is activating a procedure for the selection of n. 1 Post-doc position to work in the framework of the national project “MAAT” (PON R&C 2007-2013 - n. 713/Ric. 29/10/2010 –project’s title: Molecular NAnotechnology for HeAlth and EnvironmenT “MAAT”; project code PON02_00563_3316357; CUP: B31C12001230005).

In 2009 IIT started up a multifaceted line of strategic research activities on dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) that covers a wide range of scientific and technological issues from the understanding of physical phenomena at nanoscale to the development of large scale solutions for building integration. This research line has been structured to address the most crucial and meaningful aspects concerning fabrication technologies and cell architectures as well as to provide an accurate analysis of both the electric and electrochemical key features of the DSCs.

In this framework, in collaboration with project leader and senior researchers, the successful candidate will set-up, plan and carry out the experimental work necessary for the implementation of smart photovoltaic systems capable to generate and accumulate solar energy, but also to perceive small variations of the incoming radiation and to control the energy fluxes by means of a smart modulation of the optical transmittance. This would be a key point in the perspective of novel generation smart components to be integrated in building facades. Good team working skills in an international environment are also required as well as fluent speaking and writing skills in English, which are essential. Travelling abroad is part of the research work and could include some period of time spent in a different city/country.

The candidate should motivate himself/herself to improve both routine operations and research activities and he/she should strive to realize good results with his/her team to contribute to the broaden goals of the unit.

Ideal candidates should hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science and related subjects, with strong communication, team-working skills. Previous experience in the field of fabrication and characterization of functional nanomaterials and organic/hybrid optoelectronic devices is required.

The candidate will be highly independent and will work in a young, multidisciplinary and dynamic environment.
