Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine offers studentships to outstanding young scientists who wish to pursue an ambitious PhD project of approximately three years in basic biomedical research in an internationally leading laboratory. Though these studentships are extremely competitive, we encourage you to apply. Students who wish to be considered for this scheme should make contact with a potential supervisor in the relevant research discipline to design an ambitious project.
The scholarship comprises a competitive monthly stipend which is initially granted for two years and which can be extended for up to another twelve months. Please note that tuition, bench fees and overheads are not reimbursed by the Foundation, therefore, the Graduate School will provide the Home/EU fee plus £1,000 consumables per annum (dependent on satisfactory progress). Applicants should contact Karen Slesser prior to submitting an application for approval of the additional funds.
Participation at international scientific conferences is also supported. In addition, studentship holders are offered personal support, seminars to discuss their projects, communication training and alumni meetings, and thus can become part of a worldwide network.
Application Deadline: June 1, 2014.
