Scientific Introduction Fellowship on "Large-Scale Data Management in Cloud Environments" | INESC-ID Lisboa

The scholarship receiver will work on the development of the software infrastructure for text mining and information extraction in the DataStorm project. This infrastructure should allow the application of state of the art information extraction and text mining algorithms in very large datasets of textual information, and the easy integration of the developed algorithms with other existing solutions. In particular, the receiver will address the specific task of making predictions from textual documents through the usage of machine learning methods from the current state-of-the-art. The student will experiment with the application of different learning algorithms, different feature selection strategies for representing the textual documents, and different prediction problems to be addressed with texts written in the Portuguese and English languages.
