Περιγραφή

A post doc position is available at DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Section for Manufacturing Engineering, with start on, or as soon as possible after, April 1st, 2014. The position has duration of 3 years.

Responsibilities and tasks

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a postdoc for the topic “Metrological basis for dynamic length metrology”. The postdoc will be working on the project “ACCURATE MANUFACTURE - Dimensional measurements with sub-micrometer accuracy in a production environment and accurate measurements on parts made from dimensionally relatively less stable materials such as polymers” which is co-funded by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation, Metrologic ApS, LEGO Systems A/S and DTU Mechanical Engineering.

The work encompasses methodology development, basic investigations, reference measurements, development of laboratory set ups, and coordination of uncertainty estimation in different work areas. The aim of the project is to develop methods and equipment to achieve high-accuracy, traceable, dimensional measurements directly in a production environment, for use by manufacturing companies. The project will be carried out in an exciting combination of academic and industrial environments, together with a project team involving two PhD students and their supervisors at DTU Mechanical Engineering, as well as personnel at the industrial companies participating in the consortium.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the PhD degree in engineering. Applicants must demonstrate knowledge and experience with geometrical metrology, preferably including uncertainty estimation, modeling and simulation.

They should demonstrate experience and ability to apply their research in industrial settings, for instance through collaborative research projects. Finally, suitable applicants should be able to disseminate research findings through conference presentations and publication of articles in refereed journals.

We offer

We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare. We strive for academic excellence, collegial respect and freedom tempered by responsibility. The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is a leading technical university in northern Europe and benchmarks with the best universities in the world.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
