1 PostDoc Research Position on Mapping Ecosystem Services Supply and Demand in Italy | Università degli Studi di Perugia

Two year research grant in Perugia (Italy) for a Post-doc researcher with an education in the fields of Agri-forestry / Environmental / Landscape Sciences. The position is expected to start in April 2014. At least 2 years of previous research experience are required in most of the following subjects:

• Spatial analysis / spatial statistics
• Land use / land cover analysis using GIS/Remote Sensing
• Ecosystem services mapping
• Landscape ecology

Other desired skills:

• Excellent written and spoken English proficiency (minimum CEFR B2 level);
• Excellent knowledge of major GIS, Remote Sensing, Office and statistical packages;
• Excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.

The researcher will work full-time at Perugia University within a very innovative and challenging project named TRUSTEE, involving 16 European partners, aimed at the investigation of the trade-off/synergy between economic development and ecosystem services in the context of sustainable rural development. The main research objective is to explore the complex relationships between economic development (in particular urban growth) and ecosystem services at different spatial scales. The project is based on an interdisciplinary approach bringing together economists, geographers, agronomists, and ecologists.
