1 Postdoctoral Position in Condensed Matter Theory at the Department of Physics in Germany | University of Konstanz

Candidates should have a PhD in theoretical physics and experience in at least one of the following research areas: Condensed matter theory, quantum information theory, quantum transport, (semiconductor) spintronics, electronic properties of graphene and/or other two-dimensional solids.

The area of research includes the theoretical study of spin coherence and single-spin dynamic in solids and of solid-state systems for quantum information processing, such as semiconductor nanostructures (quantum dots and wires, etc.), carbon nanotubes, graphene, and nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond.

Further possible research areas are:

1. Spin-photon coupling in optical cavities and the use of cavity QED for quantum information processing;

2. interaction between spin and mechanical motion in nanostructures;

3. production, dynamics, and characterisation of entanglement in solid-state systems;

4. quantum information theory, particularly quantum error correction.

The research activity can in addition also include some independent research.
