1 Post-doctoral position in Large-area Terrestrial Ecosystem Monitoring in Canada | Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada

We are looking for a brilliant, self-motivated, remote sensing hero. Knowledge of lidar, forest inventory, plots, statistics, and modeling are required. An interest in Landsat is essential. We are amidst a project using Landsat data to recreate the history of Canada’s forests. The open access to the Landsat archive (thanks USGS!) is making this possible. We want to integrate capture of change and land cover for making a range of data products to meet national reporting and science needs. We are also interested in making structural attributions – that is where the lidar comes in. Of the billion hectares that make up Canada, we are interested in characterizing the whole works, with a special emphasis on the 600 million hectares that are forested ecosystems. We have some processing hurdles addressed, but there is a lot more work to do, problems to solve, and stories to tell. We do not necessarily need someone focused on data processing, we are keen to have some additional help with analysis and writing – real post-docy stuff.
