Περιγραφή
Within the High Tech Materials Programme funded by the Dutch Technology Foundation (STW) and Materials Innovation Institute (M2i), we are looking for an excellent, highly motivated researcher.
Topic: Numerical simulation of the long-term performance of geopolymer concrete systems. This project includes an experimental study of degradation mechanisms, to be carried out by a post-doc, and a modelling part to be carried out by a PhD student.
Environment: The Microlab/Section of Materials and Environment is an excellent research group within the Department of Structural Engineering.
Project for PhD researcher: The aim of the PhD project is to predict the long-term performance of geopolymer systems under different exposure conditions. The starting point for these predictions is the microstructure of the material that is studied by the post-doc. Degradation processes to be studied and simulated are chloride ingress, sulfate attack, carbonation and freeze/thaw attack. For performing the predictions the numerical simulation program HYMOSTRUC will be used as well as (multiscale) models for simulating transport processes.
Requirements
The criteria for the candidate are as follows:
- MSc in Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or Chemical Engineering;
- experience in both modelling and experimental research on construction materials;
- good background in computer programming;
- fluency in English (written and spoken) and good communication skills;
- ability to work in a team but also think independently;
- result orientation, ability to think creatively and work in a systematic manner.
Conditions of employment
TU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week, free high-speed Internet access from home (with a contract of two years or longer), and the option of assembling a customised compensation and benefits package (the 'IKA'). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School. TU Delft Graduate School provides an inspiring research environment; an excellent team of supervisors, academic staff and a mentor; and a Doctoral Education Programme aimed at developing your transferable, discipline-related and research skills. Please visit www.phd.tudelft.nl for more information.
To apply, please e-mail to Dr. Ye the following by 28 February 2014:
- letter of application specifically addressing our position,
- full curriculum vitae including a list of all courses and marks,
- publication list including a one-page summary of your MSc thesis,
- two letters of recommendation (or alternatively the names and e-mail addresses of two references).
When applying for this position, please refer to vacancy number CITG14-01.
Contract type: Temporary, 4 years
