Περιγραφή

The research group for Advanced Bio-Imaging at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Souther Denmark (SDU) offers a two year postdoctoral position within the field of biophysics. The position is available as of 1 March 2014 (or soon thereafter) for a two-year period.

The topic of the project will be applications of STimulated Emission Depletion (STED) microscopy, STED-Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy and other available techniques to quantify the nanoscopic structure and dynamics of artificial lipid membranes and skin tissue. In particular the focus will be on artificial membranes made of extracted human skin lipids and on exploring diffusion routes of hydrophilic and hydrophobic particles through the skin barrier.

We offer a challenging position in an international and stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure and an excellent opportunity for collaboration both within SDU and with renowned international research groups. The Advanced Bio-Imaging research group is part of the recognized Center for Biomembrane Physics (Memphys). MEMPHYS is a multi-disciplinary group which offers a unique and supportive environment that promotes excellent research. The Advanced Bio-Imaging group is a central partner in the Danish molecular biomedical imaging center (DaMBIC).

The successful applicant should have:

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) within bio-physics, physics or a related topic
  • A strong background in Laser scanning microscopy, STimulated Emission Depletion (STED) microscopy, model lipid bilayers and quantitative image analysis
  • Experience in Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy and related techniques as well as previous work with skin samples are an advantage
  • A strong academic record
  • Good collaboration and communication skills
  • Interest in co-supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students connected to the project

Application:

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

The application must include the following:

- A letter motivating the application

- A detailed CV including a complete and numbered list of publications

- PhD diploma

To qualify you must have passed a PhD or equivalent.

Applications will be assessed by an expert assessor/committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the university.

The University encourages all interested persons to apply, regardless of age, gender, religious affiliation, or ethnic background.
