Περιγραφή
KTH in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes architecture, industrial management and urban planning. There are a total of just over 14,000 first and second level students and more than 1,700 doctoral students. KTH has almost 4,600 employees
KTH CSC is one of the most outstanding research and teaching environments in Information Technology in Sweden with activities at KTH and partly at Stockholm University. We conduct education and research in both theoretical and applied computer science. Theoretical computer science ranges from theory building and analysis of mathematical models to algorithm construction, implementation and simulation. Applied computer science covers a wide spectrum from computer vision, robotics, machine learning, high performance computing, visualization, computational biology, neuroinformatics and neural networks, and speech and music communication. We also conduct applied research and training in media technology, human-computer interaction, interaction design and sustainable development.
Assignment
KTH Computer Science and Communication (CSC) announces a postdoctoral position in the Speech group at the department of Speech, Music and Hearing.
The Department of Speech, Music and Hearing is an internationally recognized research lab in speech technology and sound and music computing. Speech research is focused on human-like communication with machines and robots based on multimodal information. The research area is truly multi-disciplinary bridging computer science, machine learning, linguistics, and perception and cognition disciplines.
The focus for the post doctor is research and development in two EU projects (SpeDial and GetHomeSafe). In GetHomeSafe, the tasks are related to dialogue corpora collections: implementing software for data collection, performing user collections and analysing and modelling the captured interactional behaviors. Within SpedDial the work involves interactional analysis of external dialogue corpora, development of machine learning models for automatic detection of problematic parts of the dialogues (hot spots) and development of semi-automatic methods for improvement of dialogue strategies. In both projects this will involve collaboration and supervision with PhD students and collaborative writing of high-impact papers and project deliverables.
Employment
Form of employment: Two year temporary position.
Work time: Full time.
Start date: According to the agreement, preferably as soon as possible
Salary: According to the agreement and to the general level for postdoctoral salary
The position is mainly a research position, with a small fraction of departmental duties.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a PhD degree in a subject relevant for the research, such as development and user evaluations of spoken dialogue systems. Solid knowledge and experience of user evaluations of dialogue systems, and statistical analysis of interactional behavious, as well as good programming skills and experience using with machine learning to improve the spoken dialogue performance. Good command of English, in writing and speaking, is a prerequisite for presenting research results in international periodicals and at conferences. Since the SpeDial project involves multilingual dialogue corpora it is desirable that the applicant have good knowledge one of the non-English project languages (Greek, Portuguese or Romanian).
