An enthusiastic, motivated and well qualified person with skills in in vitro electrophysiological recording from neuronal cultures and brain slices is required for a Postdoctoral research assistant (PDRA) position on a Medical Research Council funded project Roles of protein SUMOylation in AMPA receptor trafficking, synaptic dysfunction and cognitive impairment in dementia.
The overall aims of the project are to identify how SUMOylation is altered by dementia in human brain and animal models.
The PDRA will be responsible for investigation of synaptic transmission and plasticity in two animal models of AD. We hypothesise that SUMOylation of specific, probably different, substrates is required for NMDAR-LTD and mGluR-LTD. Our working model is that these substrates play key roles in the synaptic dysfunction that leads to dementia.
The University of Bristol is committed to equality and we value the diversity of our staff and students.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 5 February 2014.
