Περιγραφή
A Ph.D. position in electronic structure calculation is available in the CEA (French Atomic and Alternative Energies Agency), located in Bruyères le Châtel (South of Paris). The position will start in October 2014.
The current research interest of the group is the development of cutting-edge quantum based frameworks to overcome limitations of current state-of-the art theories. The goal if so unravel the electronic underlying mechanisms determining phase transitions such as the famous isostructural transition in cerium 1 — which is believed to be a quantum critical phase transition.
The work hence involves the development of novel efficient and accurate frameworks based on the combination of Density Functional Theory (DFT), Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT) 2 and Many Body Perturbation Theory (e.g GW) in the open source code ABINIT 3.
Interested candidates should hold a M.Sc. in physics, physical chemistry or a related field. A background in density-functional theory, and Many Body theory as well as experience in Fortran programming are useful but not essential. The candidate should be highly motivated to design new quantum based scheme through the implementation of new methods in computer codes.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organization. The CEA is the leading french national centre for numerical simulations and has also access to excellent computational resources in several high performance computing centres. The PhD will take place in the physics department of the CEA in Bruyères le Châtel. The centre is linked to Paris by daily buses.
Please send your application including a CV, a motivation letter, and contact addresses of two academic references (preferably by email) to Bernard Amadon.
Consideration of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Enquiries about the position can be sent to the same address.
