Job description

RIKILT Wageningen UR offers a position for an experienced post-doctoral scientist in the area of international food safety and traceability. The position relates to current research in the field of supply chain analysis. It is about food and feed safety issues, and traceability of food and feed products and ingredients in national and international logistic networks. Aspects of authenticity and food integrity, linked to the enforcement of correct labelling, are also part of the research. Besides involvement in ongoing projects you are also responsible for broad, international acquisition on the basis of existing contacts and networks and for creating new (inter) national networks.. To strengthen the acquisition activities the post-doc scientist will be required to publish research systematically orally and in writing, the latter both in scientific journals as well as in the more popular press. The aim of the work should be to significantly extend the number of research projects in this area within the duration of the contract.

Requirements

  • You have a PhD degree in a discipline that is linked to food safety and traceability, as well as expert status in the field of research on the basis of subsequent research activities.
  • You are enthusiastic and inspiring, focused, and able to work both independently as well as in a team of researchers.
  • You have a demonstrable keen interest in aspects of food and feed safety, authenticity and traceability and willing to deepen your knowledge.
  • You can proof that you have good acquisition, writing and communication skills and have an international background in the area of research.
  • An important part of the work will be international and will require a good mastering of the English language
  • In view of the international aspect, this position is expected to require frequent travelling

Conditions of employment

A challenging senior post-doctoral position within the expertise group of Novel Foods and Agrochains. You will be working with colleagues in many different aspects relating to international food and feed supply chain management and traceability, and thus in an international research environment. We offer a full-time position for two years in a pleasant and high-level research environment which offers ample possibilities for your development as a scientist. After two years extension of another two years will be considered based on demonstrated performance. Indicative gross salary: € 3.637,- per month.

RIKILT Wageningen UR is part of the international knowledge organization Wageningen University & Research Centre. RIKILT conducts independent research into the safety and reliability of food. The institute is specialized in detecting and identifying substances in food and animal feed and determining the functionality and effect of those substances.

RIKILT advises national and international governments on establishing standards and methods of analysis. RIKILT is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week in cases of incidents and food crises.

Most of our work is commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Other parties commissioning our work include the European Union, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), foreign governments, social organizations, and businesses.
