Job description
RIKILT Wageningen UR is looking for a post-doctoral researcher in the area of modelling of chemical contaminants in the food and feed supply chain and identification of new hazards in international food and feed supply chains.
In this position you will use quantitative modelling and statistical methods applied to food safety/fraud-related contaminants in the supply chain. For the second aspect of the position you will work on complex forms of information and application of inference and reasoning techniques based on Semantic Web technology and/or Bayesian networks specifically targeting the agrifood domain. You will work in research projects, and initiate and contribute to the writing of new project proposals in the respective areas. In this way, you will add to extending the research network and deepen the expertise in this area of science.
Requirements
- PhD degree on food safety, supply chain management and/or agricultural economics
- Experience and expertise in quantitative approaches in modelling and/or statistics
- Experience in the application of inference and reasoning techniques based on Semantic Web technology and/or on Bayesian networks or the willingness to rapidly acquire expertise in this area of science
- An inspiring person who aims for high quality results, and finds pleasure in presenting these orally and in writing
- Broad interest and able to set up relevant networks with other disciplines
- Team spirit and the capacity to work independently
- A person who acquires new projects and has the skills to write successful project proposals.
Conditions of employment
An interesting and dynamic position as a scientific researcher, covering different topics, within a team of enthusiastic and involved colleagues. We offer a position for two years. After two years extension will be considered based on demonstrated performance. Indicative gross salary €2.972,- per month.

RIKILT Wageningen UR is part of the international knowledge organization Wageningen University & Research Centre. RIKILT conducts independent research into the safety and reliability of food. The institute is specialized in detecting and identifying substances in food and animal feed and determining the functionality and effect of those substances.
RIKILT advises national and international governments on establishing standards and methods of analysis. RIKILT is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week in cases of incidents and food crises.
Most of our work is commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Other parties commissioning our work include the European Union, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), foreign governments, social organizations, and businesses.
