Each year, a limited number of fellowships are offered by the deans of the faculties of the Weizmann Institute of Science

The Selection Process

The selection is based on academic excellence and merit. In the Mathematics and Computer Science Faculty the selection is done by a special committee. In all other faculties it is done by the Board of Studies.

Eligibility

1. A postdoctoral fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science who has at least a year left for his training period at the Institute.

2. A candidate who has already submitted his/her online application form to the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at the Institute.

Not Eligible

Postdoctoral fellows whose postdoctoral training is a continuum of their Ph.D. studies in the same research group at WIS may NOT apply for a Dean's Fellowship.

Deadlines

The selection process for these fellowships is held twice a year for all fields of study except for Life Sciences: In January and in July. Therefore, the deadlines for submitting applications are January 5th and July 15th respectively. Applications to the Life sciences Dean of faculty fellowship is only once a year – on January 5th .Only applications received by the respective deadline will be considered for that period. Late applications for the fellowships will be considered at the following period. Results are usually made available within eight weeks of the deadline.

How to Nominate a Candidate or to Apply

2. All documents should be emailed together (letters of recommendation may be emailed separately).

3. In case the candidate applied or was nominated in the past, or if there is an intention to use documents that may exist in the candidate's file at FGS, it is necessary to indicate so.

List of Required Documents

1. An updated C.V., including: list of publications, prizes and presentations at scientific conferences.

2. A Research Proposal (up to 2 pages only)

3. At least 2 letters of recommendation (one must be from the Ph.D. supervisor)

4. A letter of support from the host (or potential host) at the Weizmann Institute

* This letter is NOT required of candidates applying for a Fellowship by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science
