Scientific Introduction Fellowship on project INSPECT “Integrated Nano Sensor Probes and Electronics for Eddy Currents Testing” | INESC-ID Lisboa

Two research grants BIC are now available in project INSPECT - Integrated Nano Sensor Probes and Electronics for Eddy Currents Testing (PTDC/EEI-PRO/3219/2012) funded by FCT/MEC through national funds (PIDDAC). This research project aims to develop a state of the art non-destructive testing system including an eddy currents probe employing a magneto resistive sensors array as sensing element and a magnetic field driver. Dedicated CMOS circuitry and a FPGA DSP instrument will be used to measure the sensors array. The selected candidates will help on the specification of the probe using FEM and on its design using a PCB design tool. The activity will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Moisés Piedade, researcher at INESC-ID. The grantee will be integrated at INESC-ID Lisboa in the Signal Processing Systems Group (https://sips.inesc-id.pt/). The candidate should be student on a Master degree program in Electrical and Computer Engineering or in Electronic Engineering. Past experience in Electromagnetic simulation using Finite Element Method software is preferred. Previous experience on electromagnetic simulations using the CST EM Studio software. Proficiency on the design of PCBs using the Altium Designer software. Academic record of the candidate, interest on the non-destructive testing research field. The jury may decide to interview the candidates in order to perform a more objective evaluation of some of the criteria. English language level will also be considered as criteria.
