Post-doc “Acoustic shielding of high-tech systems” | Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

The goal of this post-doc project is to realize a laboratory test rig to demonstrate the acoustic performance of an active/passive cover system under realistic circumstances. The targeted cover system is a multi-layered panel including porous-elastic materials and vibro-acoustic resonators. The low- to mid- frequency acoustic isolation of the cover will be maximized by adaptive resonators. The post-doc will work in close collaboration with the PhD student to design the adaptive resonators, the cover with embedded resonators and the complete test rig in consultation with the target users. For successful accomplishment of the project, the post-doc must address problems of mechanical design, sensor/actuator implementation, control design, fluid-structure interaction and finite element modeling.

Requirements

A candidate for this challenging position should have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. He/she should have a strong interest in embedded system design and active control and in engineering acoustics and acoustic signal processing.
