Doctoral Candidate (PhD student) for Big Data in Manufacturing (m/f)
- Fixed- term 14 months initial contract, extendable to 36 months, full-time (40h/week)
In the field of Operational Excellence the University of Luxembourg is looking for a PhD student (m/f), starting in May 2016 to work on a manufacturing related research project in support of the initiative “digital Letzebuerg” launched by the gouvernment of Luxembourg.
Your Role
The PhD student will develop advanced big data clustering technologies, analyse all sensor data from production machines, predict future machine failure, dynamically forecast production lead time, and thus contribute to manufacturing competitiveness. The aim is to develop new algorithms based on cyber-physical data to predict upcoming issues in a manufacturing environment. Interact with industrial companies. Contribute to Mechanical Engineering Education. The possibility to issue a PhD thesis will be provided.
Your Profile
- Master degree in Information Systems, or Computer Science in business, or related with outstanding grades.
- Hands-on programming skills.
- Willingness to digg into MES, ERP, PPS systems and other buiness intellgence tools.
- Knowledge in manufacturing technologies is highly appreciated.
- Proficient command of English language is mandatory.
