Περιγραφή

We are looking for:

  • The ideal candidate has a strong interest in structural biology and wants to work with the state-of-the-art electron tomography techniques in cellular biology;
  • We encourage applications from Candidates with experience in electron microscopy, light microscopy and image processing;
  • Expertise in molecular biology, microbiology or bioinformatics are useful.

Requirements

  • A recent MSc degree (or equivalent) in the live sciences;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Strong interest in structural biology;
  • You are eager to join in research collaborations;
  • Good proficiency in the English language;

Conditions of employment

We offer a four year contract. Appointment will be according to the terms of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (cao Nederlandse Universiteiten), initially for the duration of one year. An extension is possible after positive evaluation of capabilities and compatibility. The salary will be set, depending on education and work experience, between the gross minimum of € 2.174,- and gross maximum of € 2.779,- euros per month, based on full-time employment (salary scale: P). In addition, Leiden University provides an annual holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

Department

The Faculty of Science teaches more than 2,600 students in the context of 8 bachelor’s and 11 master’s programs. Working at the Faculty of Science means being part of an exciting, dynamic scientific environment that sets high standards for its students, staff and support staff alike. The Faculty is known for its friendly and team-spirited atmosphere, which promotes mutual exchange of knowledge.

The Institute of Biology Leiden (IBL) is part of the Faculty of Science. It is located in the Leiden Bioscience Park in the recently refurbished Sylvius building, providing state-of-the-art facilities for biological research. Research in the IBL ranges from the molecular to the population level and from mechanistic to evolutionary approaches. The Institute has a long tradition of excellence in fundamental research in a broad range of biological subjects. It fosters an international atmosphere with strong interactions among the various groups as well as with other institutes within the Faculty of Science and other partners like the LUMC and Naturalis.
