1 PhD position in quantum optics/quantum information in Sweden | KTH - Royal Institute Of Technology

Nanowires have emerged as robust and efficient sources of single and entangled photons. In this project we will explore the possibilities to design, fabricate and operate photonic devices based on nanowires to efficiently generate non classical states of light. Several types of quantum entanglement including polarization and time bin entanglement will be generated using nanowire quantum dots under both optical and electrical excitation. Quantum dot based LEDs will be developed and operated to demonstrate the reversible conversion of charge carriers into photons.

The employment is four years with a possibility of five years. Up to 20 percent department duties are included in the employment.

Qualifications:

The required background for this position is a Master of Science in Physics, Material science or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in optics, photonics, material science or quantum mechanics. In addition to the traditional academic merits, a relevant master project, international experience, and language skills are regarded as advantageous qualifications.

Applicants must be strongly motivated for doctoral studies, possess the ability to work independently and perform critical analysis as well as possessing good levels of cooperative and communicative abilities.
