1 Postdoctoral Fellowship in skeletal and cardiac muscle differentiation of pluripotent stem cells in Belgium | KU Leuven

Translational Cardiomyology Laboratory (TCL) focuses to improve our knowledge on the molecular mechanisms of cardiac and skeletal muscle differentiation and on stem cell biology, genomics and proteomics applied to both normal and pathological muscle regeneration. The main goal of the lab is to establish new strategies of repairing damage to the muscle and cardiac tissues through pharmacological and stem cell treatments. We focus our efforts on the transplantation of mesodermal stem cells in order to promote muscle repair in animal model for muscular and cardiac dystrophies. The understanding about degenerative and spontaneous regenerative processes clearly is also important for the current extensive research effort to promote long-term regeneration.

TCL is part of a broad network of research groups at KU Leuven, with excellent expertise in cell biology, model organisms for muscular dystrophies.

Our scientific track record in muscle regeneration documented by several papers published in high impact journals should guarantee the success in achievement important goals in stem cell therapy.

Your Profile

Applicants should have a PhD with a competitive publication record including at least one paper as a first author in peer reviewed international journal. Candidates should have experience in stem cell biology and immunology. Prior experience pluripotent stem cell-technologies is considered a plus. The applicant should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
