Περιγραφή
A 3-year postdoctoral position is now available in the Trypanosome Cell Biology-INSERM U1201 unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, funded by an ANR-DFG grant.
Project description
The aim of the project is to understand how intraflagellar transport (IFT) proteins traffic to the base of the flagellum in trypanosomes and how they are assembled to constitute anterograde or retrograde trains within the flagellum. These data will be exploited to understand the biological consequences of mutations in IFT genes observed in human patients suffering from ciliopathies.
The project relies on reverse genetics (gene replacement, gene tagging, RNAi etc) and imaging (light and electron microscopy, FRAP, photoconversion etc), in addition to classic molecular and cellular biology.
The project is part of a collaborative work with the groups of Esben Lorentzen and Naoko Mizuno at the Max Planck Institute in Munich. It integrates data from structural biology and human genetics.
Host laboratory
The Trypanosome Cell Biology-INSERM U1201 is located at the Institut Pasteur in Paris town centre. The lab investigates trypanosomes both as parasites and as models. It belongs to the department of parasite and insect vectors and to the department of cell biology of the infection. It is a member of the GDR3581 CIL and of the LabEx IBEID.
Candidate profile
The candidates need to have PhD degree and to have expertise in cell biology and imaging. Having worked with trypanosomes
