Περιγραφή
Plasma cell dyscrasias are hematologic disorders characterized by uncontrolled single plasma cell clone proliferation, in the bone marrow.
The monoclonal component ( MC ) is the main diagnostic indicator of the presence of a plasma cell disease. Standard laboratory methods, such as serum protein electrophoresis and urine or serum immunofixation , have a key role in the study of monoclonal components with various clinical applications : diagnosis, staging , choice of therapeutic treatment and follow-up. To monitoring the clonality of MC, recently, the ĸ and ʎ free light chains ( FLCs ) nephelometric assay of serum was introduced. Our research group has developed an in vitro model to study the pathogenesis of FLC and we have identified a fraction of that pathological paraproteins are routed and processed in extra-cellular vesicles (EVs).
