Περιγραφή

As a PhD within the chair Indoor Environment, you will be working on the development of an integrated approach towards risk assessment of indoor environmental quality, based on the assumption that the indoor environment is more than the sum of its parts. One of the challenges of today is to reduce energy consumption in homes and at the same time enhance the perception of comfort and health by better understanding the needs and behaviour of the occupants as a driver for better design. Relationships between indoor environmental conditions and the well-being of the occupants are complex. A whole range of comfort and health effects have been associated with indoor stressors (e.g. thermal factors, lighting aspects, noise and vibration, radiation, smell and chemical pollutants, particulates, moisture and mould). The objective of the PhD will be to define home patterns of indicators and profiles of people, through assessing and analysing user experiences in homes in relation to energy consumption.

Requirements

You are highly motivated, ambitious and results-oriented. You have an MSc, preferably in the area of the (built) environment and health, along with experience in assessment of indoor environments, exposure modelling and (statistical) analysis of large datasets. You are good at collaborating with others. You work proactively and independently and have good communication skills. Your spoken and written English is excellent. An adequate knowledge of the French language is preferable.

Conditions of employment

TU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week and the option of assembling a customised compensation and benefits package (the 'IKA'). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School. TU Delft Graduate School provides an inspiring research environment; an excellent team of supervisors, academic staff and a mentor; and a Doctoral Education Programme aimed at developing your transferable, discipline-related and research skills. Please visit www.phd.tudelft.nl for more information.

To apply, please send a detailed CV, grade list and (link to) your MSc thesis along with a letter of application by 3 April 2015 to Nathalie Bast, Αυτή η διεύθυνση Email προστατεύεται από τους αυτοματισμούς αποστολέων ανεπιθύμητων μηνυμάτων. Organisation

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is a multifaceted institution offering education and carrying out research in the technical sciences at an internationally recognised level. Education, research and design are strongly oriented towards applicability. TU Delft develops technologies for future generations, focusing on sustainability, safety and economic vitality. At TU Delft you will work in an environment where technical sciences and society converge. TU Delft comprises eight faculties, unique laboratories, research institutes and schools.

Department

The Department of Architectural Engineering + Technology (AE+T) provides education and performs scientific research in the field of building technology related to the built design.

The Climate Design section is concerned with designing, assessing and managing the environment within buildings and in urban areas. One of the chairs, that of the Indoor Environment, of which you will become a part, is specifically focused on people and their health and comfort, as influenced by buildings and environmental factors, indoors and outdoors. Key is the assessment and control of the effect of the combination of environmental parameters (thermal quality, sound quality, lighting quality and air quality) on people and the built environment, in order to turn negative effects into a positive experience.
