1 Post-doc position on Indoor Climate in a Smart Grid Environment in Netherlands | Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

The objective of this post-doc position is to contribute to this project from several points-of-departure:

• Whole building simulation to assess the maximum allowable simplification in reduced thermal modelling of buildings in the intended smart grid application.
• Assess the allowed constraints for thermal comfort within the context of current standards and the potential and the need of applying more detailed thermophysiological modelling to assess equivalence of thermal exposure.
• In-situ assessment of the thermal exploitation of building mass in the context of smart grids.

The research will be embedded in the Building Performance (BP) group of the unit Building Physics & Services (BPS) in the Department of the Built Environment. Research and teaching in BPS aim to realize and maintain a sustainable, healthy, comfortable and productive indoor environment. The focus lies on physical aspects and processes including heat and mass transfer in the indoor and outdoor built environment, indoor air quality, lighting, acoustics, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.

Requirements

We are looking for excellent and highly motivated candidates with a PhD degree in Architectural Engineering, Building Science, Building, Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent. Interest in physical processes (heat, air and moisture transfer) in the built environment, sustainable energy technologies and experience in computational building performance simulation is essential.

Conditions of employment

The duration of the Postdoc candidate position is 2 years. The salary for a Postdoctoral position in the Netherlands is offered in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities (CAO NU) and starts at € 2.977,-- gross per month. In addition, Postdoc candidates receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end of the year allowance.
