1 PhD Student position in project "OILTEBIA" at the Institute of Electronic Structure and LASER (IESL) in Greece | Foundation of Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH)

The Institute of Electronic Structure and LASER (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), in the frame of the project «OILTEBIA» which is a “Marie Curie Action – FP7 – ITNS” is seeking for one (1) PhD student.

The purpose of the project is the development new algorithms for light transport in diffusive media capable of dealing with large data sets as appropriate for novel imaging systems. Implementation of fast inversion methods using time and frequency domain data from optical and optoacoustic systems. Implementation of time-resolved laser speckle correlation imaging for increased resolution and sensitivity. Evaluation of algorithms with phantom and in vivo experiments.

Requirements

• Bachelor in Natural Sciences (Physics, Mathematics) or Engineering
• Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field (Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics)
• Experience in using experimental techniques such as optical tomography, optoacoustic imaging, fluorescence imaging, microscopy
• Experience in software programming using Matlab, Labview and C++

Qualifications:

• Excellent knowledge of English language (competency in speaking and writing)
• Scientific Publications and presentations in conferences

Location: Vasilika Vouton – Heraklion Crete

Start Date: As soon as a suitable candidate is found

Contract Duration: 12 Months, with the option for extension
