1 PhD student position at the Institute of Electronic Structure and LASER (IESL) in Greece | Foundation of Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH)

The Institute of Electronic Structure and LASER (IESL) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), in the frame of the project «NILES» which is an “ARISTEIA II Action” is seeking for one (1) PhD student.

The purpose of the project is to provide innovative solutions utilizing semiconductor nanowires for the development of low-cost and ultra-efficient nanowire solar cells and nanowire-pumped organic LEDs. The successful candidate is expected to work on modeling and simulation of new designs of III-V nanowire heterostructures as well as on theoretical aspects of resonant energy transfer between inorganic nanostructures and organic molecules.

Requirements

• Bachelor in Physics/Materials Science
• MSc in a Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science, or in a relevant interdisciplinary field
• Experience in Computational Materials Science/Condensed Matter Physics/Chemistry

Additional Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of English language (competency in speaking and writing)
• Experience with computer programming and atomic-scale simulations
• Scientific publications and presentations in conferences
