Περιγραφή
The Weizmann Institute of Science invites outstanding Ph.D. students at universities abroad who are nearing graduation (or who have graduated no more than two years ago), to visit the Institute for a few days, in order to meet its scientists and explore postdoctoral research opportunities. A limited number of such visits are subsidized by the Institute on a competitive basis. Those who are invited are under no obligation to the Institute to assume their postdoctoral studies here.
The Goal
The idea behind the program is to facilitate for outstanding candidates a first-hand experience of the Institute, to meet with its scientists, and explore postdoctoral research opportunities here, with a hope that they will indeed choose to return to WIS as postdoctoral fellows. For the sake of good order, it is important to point out that the program is not intended to fund job interviews of postdoctoral candidates, nor expenses of relocation to Israel of a candidate.
The Visit
Top selected candidates will be invited for a five to seven day subsidized visit to the Weizmann Institute. They will be hosted by the group and department they have selected. During the visit each guest will lecture to an appropriate forum. A convenient schedule for the visit will be coordinated between the host(s) and the visitor.
FundingThe program will cover the following expenses:
- Airfare: Roundtrip economy class ticket on a regular scheduled airline flight at the lowest price available.
- Lodging: A maximum of six nights at the San Martin Guest House on campus on a bed & breakfast basis.
Minimum Requirements
1. Ph.D. science students nearing graduation in research institutes abroad, or those who have recently completed their doctorate studies (no more than two years ago).
2. Candidates must have at least one article in peer reviewed scientific journals or in equivalently prestigious peer reviewed conferences, as the first author, or equivalent.
3. Prior to applying online to the Feinberg Graduate School, candidates must contact potential hosts (i.e. heads of research groups at The Weizmann Institute of Science), who are interested in inviting and hosting them for a visit at the Institute within the framework of this program.
