1 Postdoctoral Research position on Positive Emotions at the Department of Social Psychology in Netherlands | University of Amsterdam (UvA)

The postdoctoral researcher will examine positive emotional experiences using a cross-cultural approach. The project will address multiple components of positive emotions, as well as the relationship between positive emotions, wellbeing and resilience. The project will employ experience sampling and make use of 'big data'. As well as being hosted in the supportive research atmosphere of the Department of Social Psychology, the researcher will have the opportunity to establish research connections with international collaborators.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct the research under the supervision of Dr Disa Sauter at the University of Amsterdam, and engage with her research group as part of Dr Sauter’s ERC-funded project An Empirical Foundation for Understanding Positive Emotions.

The position includes allowances for research expenses, including computer and recording materials, participant costs, experimental materials, and travel and subsistence costs towards project-specific travel, including conferences. It also offers an opportunity to gain experience with teaching, subject to availability and qualifications.

Requirements

You have or are about to finish a PhD in Psychology or related discipline, with expertise on emotions. You have experience of designing, executing, and analysing quantitative research; knowledge of experience sampling, multi-level analyses, or cross-cultural work are advantageous. Your written and spoken English are excellent and you have a strong interest in pursuing a scientific career, as evidenced by a track record of peer reviewed publications. You also have excellent research project management skills, and the ability to manage workload and resources to meet deadlines. You are willing and able to travel internationally (costs will be covered by the project grant).

Conditions of employment

The appointment is for a fixed period of 2 years, extension of the contract to a total of four years is subject to satisfactory performance. The intended starting date is September 2017, but a later date may be considered. Based on a full-time appointment the gross monthly salary will be between €2,552 and €4,691 (scale 10 or 11, depending on qualifications).
