The purpose of the present research is to investigate the roots of neophobia in the more general frame of socio - cultural conservativism. Moreover it is aimed at investigating how food neophobia becomes the subject of intergenerational transmission. Specifically, we intend to study the ideological antecedents of food neophobia in connection with the social connotations of new types of food and the genesis of the children’s food neophobia starting from the parents’ ideological orientation.
