Περιγραφή

The Wessex Investigational Sciences Hub (WISH) laboratory is a newly formed unit specifically designed to host regulated clinical trial work within the fields of Cancer immunotherapy, Nutrition, Respiratory disease, and Stratified/personalised medicine, and situated within the Southampton General Hospital site. The WISH lab also hosts a molecular biology suite of labs with next generation sequencing capability which has been developed with Clinical Exome Pilot programme which is a collaboration between University of Southampton, University Hospital Southampton and Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory. This job role falls within the remit of the Cancer Sciences Unit in the Faculty of Medicine which provides a stimulating working environment for more than 100 scientists, clinicians and associated staff, investigating cancer and its treatment.

We have the opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Genomics team in the WISH laboratory under the supervision of Professor Tony Williams. This group works closely with the Wessex Genomics Medicine Centre, and the 100,000 genome project, as well as having a long-standing interest in translational immunotherapy for cancers, with a focus disease stratification and personalised medicine strategies. The post holder will work closely with Clinical Research Scientists employed by the Wessex Regional Genetics Laboratory within the WISH laboratory to develop new research projects and work on genomic sequencing components of existing projects in the area of cancer patient clinical trial stratification.

You should have relevant research experience. Evidence of knowledge (PhD level or equivalent) in a relevant discipline is required and the ideal candidate will have previous research experience of next generation sequencing. Demonstrable knowledge or experience in bioinformatics would be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, a good team player with excellent communication skills, capable of delivering research tasks timely and with accuracy. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes post-docs, PhD students, clinicians, and also junior staff that you may help supervise. Experience of working with clinical samples and a good laboratory practice framework are desirable.
