1 Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Plant-Microbe Interactions in Netherlands | Utrecht University

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher (at the post-doc level) for our STW project “Effectors and their plant targets as leads for downy mildew resistance breeding in lettuce". The project focusses on deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying susceptibility of lettuce to the oomycete Bremia lactucae. Several plant targets of Bremia effectors have been identified using the yeast-two-hybrid system. For the second half of the project period we are looking for a post-doc with experience in biochemistry and/or effector biology to further analyse effector-target interactions and determine their role in the infection process, e.g. in suppressing plant immunity.

Requirements

We seek candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry and plant biology, preferentially in the field of plant-microbe interactions, and effector biology. Applicants must hold a PhD degree in a relevant field. You will work in close collaboration with a PhD student in Utrecht, our project partners at Wageningen University and several vegetable breeding companies. You will be involved in supervising BSc and MSc projects.
