Περιγραφή
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from PhD holders in the general area of computer vision. SnT is carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners. SnT is active in several international research projects funded by the EU H2020 and the European Space Agency. The Centre is currently expanding its research activities and is seeking highly motivated research associates who wish to pursue research in close cooperation with our partners.
Your Role
The successful candidates will join the SIGCOM group led by Prof. Björn Ottersten in order to pursue a PhD in the general area of Computer Vision. They will carry out research in predefined topics contributing to SIGCOM’s activities in the field (European projects, partnered projects, national projects, etc.). This research will rely on defining new mathematical models using concepts from multi-modality fusion, motion estimation, tracking, pattern recognition and 3D descriptors. Challenges related to defining models that are independent of noise, occlusions and view point variations will be tackled. All projects require conducting full scale experiments, including real-time implementation, data acquisition, training and validation at the SnT Computer Vision Lab.
The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:
- Carrying out research in a predefined topic and producing results
- Disseminating results through scientific publications
- Providing support in setting up and running experiments in the SnT
- Computer Vision laboratory
- Implementing real-time solutions
- Participating in proposal writing
- Participating in organizing relevant workshops and demonstrations
Profile:
- A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field
- Strong background in image/signal processing and in computer vision
- Strong programming skills in Matlab/C/C++
- Strong mathematical background
- Experience with RGB-D cameras and RGB-D data will be considered as an advantage
- Commitment, team working and a critical mind
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory
