1 Postdoctoral Research position in Function of cell wall proteins in fungal biofilm formation in France | Institut Pasteur

A post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Fungal Biology and Pathogenicity Unit at Institut Pasteur, Paris, to study the contribution of cell wall proteins to biofilm formation by the human pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. Biofilms formed by C. albicans on indwelling devices play a major role in the persistence of nosocomial infections, largely because of their elevated tolerance to antifungals. Using a gene overexpression approach, we have recently identified C. albicans cell wall proteins that contribute to biofilm formation (Cabral et al. PLoS Pathogens 10:e1004542, 2014). The successful candidate will join our group to perform a functional and structural characterization of these cell wall proteins and reach an understanding of their contribution to cell wall organization and biofilm formation. The project will involve collaborations with structural biologists at Institut Pasteur.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in protein expression systems and protein purification. Expertise in yeast molecular biology and/or cell wall biogenesis would be appreciated.
