1 PhD Research position in Software Technology: Big Data Analysis Systems in Sweden | KTH - Royal Institute Of Technology

The position assumes research in computational models, architectures and tools oriented towards integration of different data harvesting and analysis software components. The objective is to provide an environment in which data analysis services are not bound to any particular provider. The resulting solution should be adaptable to various application domains in order to cover a broad range of markets and interests including industrial data analytics applications.

A central element of the research will be a generic computational model serving as mediator between data and computational components. Development of such model should allow re-use of previously developed solutions to data analysis (models re-use), composition of specialized solutions (process composition/synthesis) and management of a life-cycle. We assume that both a formal model, a language, tools and supporting services will be developed.

Validation of the developed model, architecture, tools and methodology will be done in a real environment provided by industrial partner(s). The intended application domains include, but are not limited to, fault detection and diagnosis in the industrial internet and analysis and optimization of industrial (production) processes combined with “linked data” (environmental, economic, etc.).

This position will be associated with a project executed in cooperation between KTH and the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (Austria) where the successful applicant is expected to contribute.

Qualifications:

A master degree in computer science, software engineering, data science or similar academic education is required. Previous experience and knowledge (courses or projects) in data analysis methods and big data systems and applications will be considered as a merit. Strong skills in programming are required. Also a good publication record will be a merit. We are looking for strongly motivated candidate who are able work both individually and in teams. The candidate must have excellent skills in English (both orally and written).
