Περιγραφή

The successful candidate will conduct research on foam for enhanced oil recovery, specifically spontaneous foam generation in flow of gas across geological heterogeneities. The research will involve a significant laboratory component (coreflood experiments), and also extensive use of analytical modelling and simulation to interpret and guide the experiments.

Requirements

Applicants should have a Master of Science degree in a quantitative "hard" science or engineering field, as well as experience and demonstrated aptitude in experimental work, and an analytical approach to problem-solving. The candidate should also be adept at numerical modelling.

Conditions of employment

The TU Delft offers an attractive benefits package, including a flexible work week and the option of assembling a customised compensation and benefits package (the 'IKA'). Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

As a PhD candidate you will be enrolled in the TU Delft Graduate School. The TU Delft Graduate School provides an inspiring research environment; an excellent team of supervisors, academic staff and a mentor; and a Doctoral Education Programme aimed at developing your transferable, discipline-related and research skills.

Department

Civil Engineering & Geosciences

The Department of Geoscience and Engineering executes a programme for inventive exploration, exploitation and use of the Earth’s resources and subsurface space. It employs a staff of ca. 120 and 85 PhD students, and teaches ca. 250 undergraduate students. It has an internationally leading role in research on petroleum engineering, applied geophysics and petrophysics, applied geology and geo-engineering. The Department strives for close cooperation between the disciplines. The Petroleum Engineering section possesses an international faculty and student body and excellent laboratory facilities. Research is supported by a variety of industrial and government programmes. Ongoing strengths of the programme include research in enhanced oil recovery, optimal control and data assimilation, complex fluids, petrophysics, flow through porous media, multiscale multiphysics modelling and simulation, and advanced reservoir simulation. A key component of our research is close cooperation with other disciplines in the geosciences, engineering and applied mathematics.
