1 PhD Fellowship in gut microbiota and inflammatory disease in Norway | University of Oslo (UiO)

Recently, the microbes of the gut have been defined as a separate organ, which has been linked to multiple common disease conditions. The project NORGUT aims to characterise the gut microbiota of several diseases with manifestations in the gastrointestinal tract (including PSC) and how the microbiota influences key metabolic factors in these conditions. Besides detailed sequencing-based profiling of the gut microbiota, parallel studies of biochemical footprints of bacterial activity in the blood will provide new data on how gut microbes cause or modify systemic disease. The project leader Johannes R Hov and the group of genomics and metagenomics have established a complete pipeline for microbiota studies and collaborate with both national and international experts in metabolomics. The PhD candidate will work to answer several different research questions arising in NORGUT, using materials and tools that are already available.

Qualifications:
