Περιγραφή

Open Mining Infrastructure for Text and Data (OpenMinTeD) is a H2020-EINFRA funded project on managing, preserving and computing big research data. For this EU collaborative project, NaCTeM seeks a researcher in text mining infrastructures to conduct novel research on establishing an open and sustainable TDM infrastructure for the collaborative sharing and re-using of knowledge. An important part of the research is the development of an interoperability framework and service-oriented platform for the integration of text mining services, content and language resources. NaCTeM will leverage its core infrastructure, Argo, to support use cases in the Life Sciences, ie, the curation of the EMBL-EBI chemical databases and the curation of the KnowledgeSpace developed by the Human Brain Project.

You will develop interoperable text mining infrastructure specifications, align text mining platforms and design the architecture of the platforms; and drive the design of community driven applications with particular emphasis to Life Science applications. You will join a strong and dynamic team of text miners, software engineers at the University of Manchester and will work with the best teams in Europe working in text mining infrastructures.

You should have a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science with emphasis in Software Engineering and knowledge of Text Mining, excellent programming skills and proven track record of service development, infrastructures and publications in high quality journals and conferences. The research associate will be part of the National Centre for Text Mining, which has over 10 years’ experience in text mining with strong links in the areas of computational biology and health.

The School of Computer Science is committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for promoting women’s careers in STEMM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) in higher education. The School received a Bronze Award in 2013 for their commitment to the representation of women in the workplace and we particularly welcome applications from women for this post.
