Περιγραφή
The research project aims to study the determinants of creativity and innovation at the inventor and team level. Creativity and innovation have become increasingly important in organizations as key drivers of firm performance and economic growth. Despite the key role of inventors, many fundamental questions about their role in the innovation process remain unanswered. One set of important questions to be addressed is whether inventors who move between firms, fields, industries, or geographic areas, develop innovations which are more valuable for the organization. In this project, you will systematically analyze and rigorously test such research questions. You prepare a doctoral thesis and follow the doctoral program of the University of Leuven. The project will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Sam Arts and Prof. Dr. Ernst Verwaal.
You will work independently on your research in an environment in which you will enjoy the support of your supervisors and colleagues. You will be part of a team that helps each other and where giving feedback is key. Within the PhD program, you will have ample opportunity to attend courses and seminars, and to present your research at home and abroad at international conferences.
Profile
- You have (or will soon have) a master’s degree in economics, business economics, or in a related discipline. Students in their final year can also apply.
- You have an excellent academic record (applicants should have obtained honors at least twice for the university diplomas mentioned).
- You have a strong interest in scientific research.
- A thorough methodological knowledge (including statistical methods) is a must.
- You are motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
- You are fluent in English.
- You are independent, flexible, and have good organizational skills.
Offer
We offer a fulltime employment for 2 years, extendable for another 2 years after a positive evaluation. You will work as a doctoral student in a stimulating and challenging work environment with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy.
