You conduct research in the field of hematopathology with a strong link to the immunology, particularly with regard to the immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor gene rearrangements. You will independently organize and perform experiments, including next generation sequencing technology and will be active in obtaining funding for research. There is also a role in education and support for research in other pathology areas.

The molecular biologist organizes scientific research in the field hematopathology and is responsible for the further development of research. You participate in existing collaborative networks and use opportunities for new collaborative research projects where necessary. The molecular biologist is well aware of the developments within the disciplines of hematopathology and immunogenetics, conducts research to obtain new insights into the field that result in new grant proposals and teaches technicians or others involved in the research in new technologies or assays.

Requirements

The molecular biologist has a PhD degree in the field of molecular oncology or immunology. Expertise in immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor gene rearrangements would be a strong plus. The molecular biologist has knowledge about with next generation sequencing techniques and related bio-informatics. You are intelligent, smart, driven, peer, takes the lead and has excellent communication skills.

Organisation

The Radboud university medical center advances human knowledge by conducting biomedical, translational and clinical research in order to improve wellbeing. Our key strength is medical life-sciences and clinical practice, with an impressive infrastructure comprising state-of-the-art technology platforms and (translational) research facilities. The Radboud university medical center is therefore uniquely positioned in the emerging Euregio and Dutch healthcare infrastructure to play a leading role in the new healthcare paradigm of prediction, prevention and personalised medicine.

The Radboud university medical center focuses on scientific health challenges of today, with an eye on emerging diseases of the future. Our mission: ‘to have a significant impact on healthcare’.

Department

Laboratory of Pathology

Within the laboratory of Pathology laboratory of enthusiastic (clinical) molecular biologists, pathologists and technicians perform research in the field of oncology. The research is translational in nature and is focused on the identification of biomarkers, not only for diagnosis or prognosis, but in particular for prediction of the effect of targeted therapies, using tissues and cellular - and/or animal models. The researchers of the pathology research laboratory collaborate with the unit molecular diagnostics that participates in the laboratory Tumor Genetics and the unit immunohistochemistry / in situ hybridization and histology. In this way, the molecular biologist works in a large network of researchers and technicians, specialized in the various aspects of pathology and tumorgenetics. The laboratory of Pathology is CCKL accredited.
