I spent five weeks in the summer camp of EuroProtypo School as a member-teacher of the “English-speaking environment” the camp had to offer.
The programs included a wide range of activities from visiting museums to many creative ones. Every week we had a particular topic that gave a frame to the programs, for example one week we focused on “culture”, another on “civilization”, “food” or “science”. My job was to provide supporting help to the Camp teachers and incorporate the English language in the children’s everyday activities.
I really loved going to the beach with the children in the mornings and in the afternoons taking part in conversations about the topic of the week. Children learnt a lot during these conversations in a funny and amusing way. At the end of each day, the children had the chance to make plasticine sculptures, make a painting and write a paragraph about the event that they loved most in their “Summer Camp Diary”.
To sum up, the EuroProtypo School organized variable programs for the children who not just have a great time but also learnt a lot.
