BA Social Work (Frederick) (ΛΕΥΚΩΣΙΑ)

The social work profession promotes social change, social cohesion, problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment and liberation of people to enhance well-being. Utilizing theories of human behavior and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work. In Cyprus in accordance with a recent statute, social workers are required to have special training at Higher Educational Institutions as a precondition for practicing the profession. The aim of the Department is to provide quality social work education for students and to prepare them for professional social work practice in order to enhance the well being of vulnerable populations and communities at risk. Through teaching and research, the Department aims at contributing to the knowledge base of social work and at promoting social justice.
