This ground-breaking and exciting program develops entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and experience. Changing the rules of the enterprise education game, the degree prepares learners to live, craft, master and create entrepreneurship.

The MSc in Entrepreneurship is built upon the concept of Effectuation, a logic of entrepreneurial expertise that both novice and experienced entrepreneurs can use in the highly unpredictable start-up phase of a venture to reduce failure costs for the entrepreneur.

The MSc in Entrepreneurship is an experience that takes place both in the real world of the entrepreneur, and within ALBA’s “Business Unusual” classrooms, balancing the practice of entrepreneurship with the mastery of core concepts. From generating creative ideas to launching innovative “happenings”, from building a strong business model to detailed financial planning, the MSc in Entrepreneurship prepares participants for creating and leading the new ventures of the future.

How do we do it?

The program is based around four pillars, running throughout the degree:

Live it.

In this exciting learning pillar, participants engage with the entrepreneurial life. The best place to learn about entrepreneurship is out in the real world. The pillar includes computer simulations; market activities; shadowing entrepreneurs; field studies of alternative enterprise; and a final project embedded in an entrepreneurial venture.

Craft it.

Following the very latest practice from Silicon Valley, and other entrepreneurial hotbeds, participants develop the skills and competences needed to launch a venture. Leading international “guest star” lecturers will work with MSc participants on generating radical enterprise ideas, using ‘lean start up’ principles, creating and experimenting with business models, carrying out more rigorous feasibility analyses, preparing a formal business plan, and growing the venture after launch.

Master it.

To plan and run a new venture, a strong tool box of management competences is needed. Participants will develop their skills in the fundamental business functions of finance, strategy, marketing, managing, and operations management.

Create it.

Starting with innovative workshops that enhance personal creativity, this pillar then explores creating with others, through leadership and enhanced emotional intelligence. Next, we explore creative expressions of entrepreneurship, and use the world of the arts to frame analysis of society and enterprise. The final project in this pillar will be a summer film festival, organized by the class, presenting cinematic representations of the entrepreneur.
