The Department of History at Radboud University offers two specialisations for international students, which aim to make students astute observers and shapers of the legacies and images of the past in the contemporary world. Our department, uniquely situated in the oldest Roman city in the Netherlands, is renowned for its pursuit of academic excellence and for its commitment to an outstanding education, based on active participation by students.

Within the Master's programme in History, you can choose from the following English-taught specialisations:

• Present(ed) History
• Eternal Rome

The Master's programme Eternal Rome presents a unique programme, taught by a group of specialists from the fields of ancient, Byzantine, and medieval history, which focuses specifically on Rome and offers an in-depth examination of the city of Rome, its role as the capital of the Roman Empire and of the representation of the ‘idea' of Rome throughout the centuries.

Admission requirements

• (The equivalent of) a Bachelor’s degree in History or a related field
• TOEFL is 575 (paper based)/232 (computer based)/90 (internet based), IELTS: 6.5
