If you choose to study Linguistics in Nijmegen you will have a unique opportunity to create your own programme based on a wide range of courses on interesting, advanced topics in fields as diverse as psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, second language learning, language description and linguistic diversity. Linguistics is taught at a very high level in Nijmegen, and we are known for our excellent teaching and research. We have our own dedicated research institute and also work closely with the world-renowned Max Planck and Donders Institutes and, as such, you have the opportunity to work closely with top researchers. In fact, you will be in the middle of a research environment where important discoveries are being made and there is a good chance that you may even be involved in some of them

Admission requirements

• (The equivalent of) a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, languages or in Communication and Information Sciences, provided you took at least 60 ECTS worth of courses in the area of linguistics
• Requirements for language-specific programmes:
• Dutch linguistics: a university Bachelor's degree in Dutch language and culture.
• German linguistics: a university Bachelor's degree in German language and culture.
• English language and linguistics: a university Bachelor's degree in English language and culture
• French linguistics: a university Bachelor's degree in French Language and Culture.
• Spanish linguistics: a university Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Culture.
• Language and Communication Coaching: a university Bachelor's degree in Business Communication Studies, English language and culture, or an equivalent. An admission committee will be formed under the responsibility of the Examination Board of the Master's in Linguistics.
• TOEFL score of ≥600 (paper based) or ≥250 (computer based) or ≥100 (internet based),An IELTS score of ≥7.0
